ROM Options

The Launcher's ROM Options section configures the selected entry: its name, file, cartridge mapping, favorite status, and database housekeeping.

Identity, file, and mapping

Field Description
Name The display title of the entry (editable via a text dialog).
File The image file on disk; opens a file browser. Shows (not set) when no file is assigned. An entry without a file cannot be launched.
Mapping How kat5200 interprets the cartridge image (which bank-switching/cartridge type it is). Defaults to Auto. If a title loads incorrectly or crashes with the automatic guess and you know the correct type, set it explicitly here.

The entry's CRC and Size are shown alongside the ROM info in the ROM Actions section.

Actions

Action Description
Save Save the entry's Name / File / Mapping changes. The Launcher confirms with "ROM settings saved."
Delete Permanently remove the entry from the database.
Add to Favorites / Remove from Favorites Toggle whether the entry is in your favorites (stored in favorites.csv).
Clear Custom Settings Reset this ROM's per-game overrides (machine/video/sound/input) back to the global defaults.
Clear Filename Remove the file assignment from the entry, keeping the entry itself.
Add new ROM entry from File Create a brand-new entry from a file (see Adding & Scanning ROMs).

Per-ROM overrides (machine, video, sound, input)

kat5200 no longer keeps separate machine/profile tabs inside the Launcher. Instead, to give a title its own machine, graphics, sound, or input setup:

  1. Select the ROM in the Launcher (or launch it).
  2. Open the relevant Options tab (System, Graphics, Sound, or Input) and make your changes.
  3. Press Save for ROM only [*] instead of Save.

Those settings then override your global defaults whenever that ROM is launched. Use Clear Custom Settings here to revert the ROM to the defaults.

Tip

Wrong Mapping is a common cause of "CPU Crashed" on cartridges. Setting the correct mapping usually fixes it — see Troubleshooting.
